Students need a subscription to access the Learning Platform. Please follow the steps below:
- Sign in to your RSL account. You can do that here...
- In “My Secure Area” under “Subscriptions” click on “Manage”, or choose “Subscriptions” from the Menu in the top
- Under “My Subscriptions” click on “Create New Learning Platform Subscription”
- Step 1 of 3 – Subscription Details:
- Here, you will select the student who the subscription is for. The menu lists all students linked to your account. See below for the steps on how to create student accounts.
- Next, select either a monthly or annual subscription:
- Monthly subscription: the subscription fee is charged monthly to your card. If cancelling, the subscription continues until the next monthly payment would be due
- Annual subscription: the subscription is paid for one year in advance. If cancelling, the subscription continues until the next yearly payment would be due. - Enter a subscription title – this can be freely chosen and helps when managing subscriptions for multiple students.
- Click “Next”
- Step 2 of 3 – Select Teacher: A student account needs to be linked with a teacher on the RSL Teacher Registry.
Once you have selected your subscription type, you will need to find your child's teacher on the Teacher Registry. You can do this by entering the Institution your child is learning at (where relevant) or by entering the teacher's Full Name or part of their name. Eg. 'Ward' will also bring up 'Awards', 'Wardington' etc, or their email address.
Click 'Search' and, if your teacher has an active profile, you will be able to find them. Tick the box in the column “Select” for the correct teacher and click “Next”
NB: If your student’s teacher is not on the RSL Teacher Registry, please contact them and ask them to sign up for free here...
- Step 3: Payment – Please complete your card and billing address details
- Review the Terms and Conditions and tick the box to agree with them
- Click “Submit and Pay”
- A “Success” message will be shown if the card was successfully authorised
- You can review your subscriptions under “My Subscriptions”
NB: The student should then login at least once at using the following details:
- E-mail address: The e-mail address of the RSL account holder (e.g. parent or teacher) who created the subscription
- Password: The password that was defined for the student (see “Linking a student to your RSL account”)
- PIN: The PIN identifier that was defined for the student
The login will initialise the student’s profile on the Learning Platform. This will enable the teacher that was chosen during the subscription sign-up to see the student through their Learning Platform interface.
Linking a Student to your RSL Account
The RSL system provides parents and teachers with functions to manage multiple students within their account. Typically, these are past or future candidates for RSL Graded Music Exams. Additionally, a student account can be created manually. When linking a student to the account, the account holder (parent/teacher) defines a PIN and password which they will give to the student. The student uses the PIN and password along with the account holder’s email to access the RSL Learning Platform. The parent or teacher is able to reset the password.
To Add a Student to your Account
- Student accounts are based on the individual registered for an exam. This means a past or future exam needs to exist for the student.
- In “Step 1 of 3 – Subscription Details” click on “Add/Link Account”
- All exams in your account are listed
- Use the tick-boxes in the column “Link Account” to identify the same person for whom you will create a student account. At least one exam needs to be ticked. Click “Link Account”.
- If no exams are found, a new student account can be created manually by clicking on “Create New Account”:
- Enter student First name and Surname
- Set a password – you will need to give this to the student
- Set a PIN – this must be different from the PIN for your other student accounts and you will need to give this to the student
- Click “Create New Linked Account”
- A success message is shown
